Community relations director gave me a thorough tour. During which I had the opportunity to meet several staff members and observe residents participating in activities. A very friendly and caring environment, starting with the front desk concierges, will recommend at every chance.

My mother was only there a month and a half before she passed, but I was very pleased with my experience at Amber Creek. The administration was organized, and the nursing staff was wonderful - very caring and attentive to my mother. The facility was less expensive than what I was paying in WA state. I would recommend Amber Creek for families looking for good memory care in Scottsdale.

For the short amount of time he was here they were very good and I was impressed. They focused on trying to stimulate the memory or the residents here and the way it was set up was meant to really help them. I like that it is solely a memory care facility, it is not attached to assisted living so they focus 110% on memory care. They do have transitional care all the way from the time he was admitted until hospice, they were able to accommodate anything that he needed. They staff were always super interactive, I never saw staff just sitting around which was refreshing to see. Their goal is to keep the residents engaged and so they are not just sitting in their rooms. I thought that the directors went above and beyond, they were so helpful and caring. I would definitely recommend them to others who are looking for memory care for their loved ones.

I would recommend the place. I think it's been a good experience. No place is ideal as far as I'm concerned - I'd rather have my loved one at home. But as far as memory care facilities go, I think this is the best of the ones I looked at. First of all, it's strictly memory care, which is what I was looking for. It's a clean and fairly new facility. I did check into the staff, and all of the caregivers are certified, which was important to me. The only concern I have is the food is a little bland, but that's to be expected with institutional food. It seems to be nutritious though, just lacking in seasoning. I think they try the best they can to please the different types of people they work with. The cost for all of these types of places is about the same, but kind of high.

I'm very satisfied with them, especially compared to other places that I visited before we selected a place for my loved one. The feedback that I've received from vendors who are going to different places is similar. They think very highly of Amber Creek, and they rate it much higher than other places in the valley / Phoenix area. I like the general attitude and atmosphere here. They make a conscious effort to make everybody feel comfortable, and it's a a fairly small facility compared to others. The food is excellent as well.

My father has been at Amber Creek for over a year now and is very happy. The team does a very good job of keeping him as engaged as possible, which is important as he still is able to function at a pretty high level. I am always contacted promptly if there are any issues and the staff is friendly and courteous whenever we interact. I find the leadership team responsive, proactive and vigilant with respecting to protecting his health, especially during these challenging times with the virus. My father enjoys the food and is very content with his room and the overall accommodations. He always says they keep him out of trouble, so that’s good! I would highly recommend this facility.

I have good things to say about Amber Creek Inn. They cared for our Mom when she got ill. She was frightened and crying, which she never does, and they calmed her, figured out her speech was gone, and got her to ER. Nurse [name removed] was really helpful and communicated well throughout the process (I live in northern Arizona.) They noticed she was acting different at lunch compared to breakfast, so they're observant. I feel comfortable with the care they give and our Mom is not easy to deal with.

I found them to be very satisfactory. They have a really challenging job. They have managed keep to keep the residents safe during the corona visits. The nursing staff are very good, the other staff are little move variable. The staff do really well at a very tough job.

My girlfriend moved in 18 months ago having progressing Alzheimer's. The current staff is very caring, thorough, & attentive to each patient's needs. The facility had a quick response to covid-19 by locking down & no visitors allowed to prevent virus cases. FaceTime appointments & phone calls are very accessible. The facility is extremely well kept with no obnoxious smells in the common areas, bathrooms, & bedrooms. The chef has improved the meal offerings with more salads & vegetables than before. A challenge would be to keep the patients weight down with the 3 full meals & snacks offered to all patients all day, with patients with Alzheimer's who can't remember that they just ate already a few minutes ago. Quarterly care conferences for the staff, patient, & family members are done to keep up the proper level of care & keep the family informed. This is a clean, knowledgeable, & caring facility/staff.

I work in the senior living industry and thought I knew it well. But I learned a valuable lesson from initially making the wrong placement for my husband. He is high-functioning with a suspected Alzheimer's diagnosis, and he was initially in a small memory care program where I thought he would get a lot of personal care. I learned that a larger program like Amber Creek's provides many more people at varying levels of dementia functionality, and this has allowed him more options to connect with others. Also the activity programming is much more robust, supported by a larger population, and Amber Creek excels at planning wonderful activities for their residents. Adding to that, the current staff and administration at Amber Creek is very caring. I would definitely recommend Amber Creek specifically and a larger memory care program generally, especially to anyone who is middle- to high-functioning.

One key thing for me was proximity to medical care and proximity to my home. Amber Creek is three blocks from the hospital and physicians from the hospital visit Amber Creek weekly so I do not need to bring mom out to doctor appointments. They even brought in a mobile x-ray to x-ray her hip that was hurting. I looked at 7 places. I really like that Amber Creek provided the bed and night stand, since mom was moving from out of state I only had to bring a few things when I moved her in. I like that all the units are on one floor and mom does not have to navigate an elevator. Her room faces the courtyard and the community has a very neighborly feel. My mom's unit is right across from the dining room, she loves to be near all the activity. A huge factor for me is that Amber Creek is the only community that I looked at that has a motion detector in the ceiling, which is helpful since my mom gets up a lot in her room and the nursing staff can see her movements. I could not see someone with Alzheimer's knowing to pull a pull cord.Other facilities that I looked at moved residents as their needs progress, at Amber Creek my mom will stay in the same unit. I really like that there is a rate lock for the entire length of her stay at Amber Creek. That is great for budgeting.

My grandfather in law lived at Amber Creek for about 6 mos until he passed on. The staff was very nice and he was always clean. When we first moved him on, the food was questionable, but they brought on a new cook and it was good at the end. My wife was able to speak with managers when needed. If you have to choose a place that's not home, this is a good bet.

I do not tecommend this facility in Scottsdale. In my opinion there are too many residents and mot enough staff to give all residents the specialized care they deserve. Numbers might be in compliance bit that doesn't help those that have higher needs that are not met.

WE moved my Aunt into here in 2017. Though not perfect, I would have rated it a 4+. For some reason the then director, [name removed], was removed later in 2018. What a shame. The place went down hill. The new director, [name removed] (who never seemed to be there or available unless they wanted more money), and the new head nurse [name removed] were not interested in patients. They couldn't even manage my Aunts medications correctly. With my Mom's caregivers that is grounds for firing. On one occasion they didn't get my Aunt out of bed so she could eat and then lied about it. My Aunt had been on hospice previously for weight loss.[names removed] just didn't care. [name removed] was more interested in protecting the nurse, Carmon, that was the root of the problem with medications. They even put out the word to the staff that anyone talking to my aunts visiting care staff would be fired. Amber Creek is owned by Koelsch. I tired calling them. Guess what? One can only talk with a receptionist who will take your problem and someone will decide if you will get a call back or not. Now there is a way to run a business! On the day we checked my Aunt out of there they refused to give us my Aunts DNR! When they handed over my Aunts medications we didn't get them all and we discovered other medications that had been missed. Please don't consider Amber Creek or any Koelsch nursing home.

My friends and family, who have visited, have been very impressed with Amber Creek Inn Memory Care. We have found the attention, given to our loved on, to be very clos to perfection. When asked, our loved one responds that he likes it there. We find the setting to be kept up nicely and the staff to be attentive, concerned and pleasant. The food is tasty and the menu well thought out. During the day, the residents are encouragsed to be part of the variouss activities being offered on a daily basis. I strongly recommend Amber Creek to anyone that needs the loving care and assistance that they offer.

The administrators and staff at Ember Creek are attentive and caring. I moved my mother from another memory care home four months ago and immediately saw the change in her I was hoping for. Amber Creek has wide, sunny hallways, plenty of pleasant rooms to visit and a beautiful courtyard. Residents eat good meals in nice dining rooms. Activity coordinators are cheerful and encouraging. I feel fortunate to have found this community for my mom.
