There is such a varied group of people here and each person has his/her own needs but we all seem to blend together The staff does a remarkable job of meeting each of us with our individual needs. I never thought I wanted to live in an \"old people's home\" because of the institutionalized living I thought it would force me into. Living in one of the cottages gives me complete freedom as to when and where I go and yet the help is there when I need it. The meals are wonderful. I choose to eat hot oatmeal in my cottage each morning and then I go to the main dining room for lunch and supper. Even though I don't live in the main building, I still feel like a part of the community and I have made good friends here. This kind of living suits my needs perfectly and I am very happy here. \n\nThere is a resident [name removed], who has had a stroke. Because of the help they need in feeding themselves and the inability they have in knowing what they need, the resident makes all of the other residents feel uncomfortable. We have tried to help this resident but we are told to leave the resident's needs to the staff. I have a feeling that this resident's daughter has asked the staff to treat them as one of the gang but with the impairments this person suffers with are not going to allow them to be normal. The staff is frustrated, the other residents see this resident's needs and want to help but we don't have the expertise. It seems that the resident's daughter is expecting things from their loved one that are not going to happen and yet the resident keeps pushing for a normal life again.
