We care for those who need assistance living their daily lives, whether it be the elderly, or those living with memory loss or other types of mental disabilities.</p>
<p>Our community practices a person-centered approach, where we focus on maximizing individual strengths, and provide a higher quality of life by creating a supportive, nurturing, and encouraging atmosphere. Each resident is valued and treated with dignity — we strive to make each person feel like they are part of a family, here at Houston Special Needs Center.</p>
<h3>Community Services and Amenities</h3>
<p>While our community may be small, we still provide a large variety of services. Our caregivers offer one-on-one care based on each individual’s needs and preferences. Assistance with daily living activities, such as dressing, bathing, and eating, is available around the clock. For those living with memory loss, such as Alzheimer’s or other dementia-related illnesses, we provide memory care services that help stimulate the brain and resonate past joyful memories. We also provide diabetic and incontinence care, recreational therapy, and medication management services. Our in-house medical doctor and specialist is available throughout the day to oversee our residents and offer medical assistance as necessary.</p>
<p>Housekeeping and laundry services are provided on a regular basis to keep all living spaces and common areas fresh, clean, and organized. Delicious, nutrient-packed meals are prepared daily, giving residents the energy they need to take on the day. Residents are encouraged to enjoy their meals in our dining room so they can visit and interact with their friends and neighbors.</p>
<p>It’s important to stay active and engaged, not just physically, but mentally and socially, as well. We coordinate a number of recreational and social activities for residents to participate in. Outdoor activities like BBQs and cookouts are a big hit during the summer months. Indoor activities, such as arts and crafts or trivia, are also available, for those who’d rather stay inside. Regardless of personal preferences, rest assured that your loved one will be treated with kindness and respect from everyone here.</p>
<h3>Living Arrangements</h3>
<p>Our entire community is wheelchair-accessible, including the fenced-in backyard, so all residents can freely explore the campus as they please. We currently have four bedrooms, some of which are private, and others which are semi-private. Residents are welcome to bring small touches of home, such as family photos or a favorite memento, to help make their space feel a little more like home. Let us know what we can do to make Houston Special Needs Center even better for you and your loved ones.</p>
<h3>Care Types Offered</h3>
<p>Houston Special Needs Center is an <em>adult foster care facility</em>, which in the state of Michigan is a facility that provides foster care for adults who are aged, mentally ill, developmentally disabled, or physically disabled who require supervision on an ongoing basis but who do not require continuous nursing care. Foster care means the provision of supervision, personal care, and protection in addition to room and board, for 24 hours a day, 5 or more days a week, and for 2 or more consecutive weeks.</p>
