My mother was there a short time and then she passed. Overall good experience but as you would expect took a bit to get everything dialed in. Nursing staff was a little disorganized. Once we had outside nursing staff things were better. We liked how clean the facility was. Some of the caregivers were pretty in personal but I thinks you could expect that given the amount of residents.

He loves his apartment but is unhappy with the food. He says a lot of the food is unhealthy and they run out of the specials super early. He has also said there is a high turnover rate with staff.

A great place to work

Onsite staff is wonderful, corporate is challenging

We moved my mom to High Point about 3 months ago, selecting the facility based on location, cleanliness, and commitments to and "always open" dining room. We truly like everyone we have dealt with at the facility (although the dining room does have restrictions on when my mom can eat). There is onsite therapy through a 3rd party that has been a godsend for my mom. The issues I have are that we had problems on our initial invoice, and not only are most of them still not resolved, the subsequent invoices have duplicated some of the issues compounding the problem. At this point, there are about $[removed] in charges I have been told will be refunded, but still have not been after 3 months. From my mom's perspective, she has told us that the residents complain that the food doesn't change much from week to week, so she is very tired of eating the same things over and over. Also, while they have a shuttle bus out front, there are very few outings, only internal activities.

We are actively working to correct the issue and have identified that the delays are due in part to intricacies within the point-of-sale platform we use, which has made troubleshooting more complex than anticipated. When errors have been identified, we’ve issued timely credits and will continue to do so until all concerns are resolved. We also appreciate the feedback about the dining experience. Our menu is structured much like a restaurant, offering more than twenty options for residents to choose from at each meal. These selections are featured on a six-week rotating cycle to provide variety and accommodate different tastes and preferences. Resident satisfaction is incredibly important to us, and we will be sharing this input with our dining team to explore further enhancements. Not what was promised

Had issues with surprise billing and communication about my loved one in a timely manner. Administrative staff constantly gave me the run around. Told me what I wanted to hear and lacked follow through. Had to take my loved one out of HighPointe within 9 months of being there due to the amount of issues we were having. I ended up filing a grievance with the state.

Thank you for your feedback. We are genuinely sorry to hear that your experience did not meet expectations and appreciate the opportunity to provide clarity. Our records reflect that we cared for your mother-in-law for approximately 10 months, and during that time, our team made every effort to provide consistent communication and support regarding her care needs and changes. In January 2025, a routine reassessment was completed by our Wellness Director, resulting in a change to her care level. In February, at the family's request, a follow-up care plan meeting and reassessment were conducted with the family present, and Bertha’s care level was subsequently lowered. These changes, along with all related notifications, were thoroughly documented in our system and communicated to the responsible party. We understand that cost of care can be a significant challenge, and we recognize the family shared their financial concerns with our team. We were informed that these difficulties ultimately led to the decision to give notice in March 2025. Regarding the state survey in March 2025 conducted by the Department of Health, the legal power-of-attorney was interviewed and stated to the surveyor that she was notified of the care level changes. We understand that navigating care for a loved one is deeply personal and sometimes difficult, especially when financial or emotional stress is involved. If you would like to discuss any specific concerns further, we welcome the opportunity to do so directly.

Would Recommend based our our family experience

it is a fabulous facility, but it is really best for seniors that do not need higher levels of care. My mom was only there three months and then she passed away, so I can only give you my impressions being there three months and she was on the decline the last two months. Their biggest issue is they have had high turnover with the executive leadership that is running that place and it really caused things to not be great and I just sort of was there during that period of time. New Executive Director was too focused on profit and not on compassionate care; she should be a role model for her staff and was not. I know you can balance profit with an attitude of gentleness and caring

They have nothing to do in memory care and very little supervision.

The new director [name removed] would not answer emails. Left before scheduled meetings with us. There is minimal supervision in memory care and they have 0 activities for the residents. We took our Mom out of this horrible place and she is very happy now.

Thank you for sharing your concerns. We understand that transitions involving memory care can be emotional and complex, and we regret that your experience did not meet expectations. To clarify, your mom moved into our community in [date removed], and signs of cognitive decline were identified shortly after. Due to safety concerns—including incidents while walking her two dogs—our team requested their removal in [date removed]. The family opted not to remove the pets until October. As your mom's exit-seeking behaviors increased, we initiated conversations about a move to Memory Care in [date removed]. The family initially agreed to a transition in [date removed], then postponed. After further coordination, the move was completed by our team when only partial setup of the apartment was done by the family. The POA was informed that remaining belongings needed to be removed from Assisted Living; however, this did not occur for 30 days, resulting in a standard rental charge. Despite concerns shared at the time of departure, your mom had demonstrated meaningful engagement and socialization in Memory Care—progress that was well documented. After her transfer to Assisted Living in another community, their team contacted us shortly after move-in regarding exit-seeking behavior and inquired if she had previously resided in Memory Care. Lastly, communication was directed to the legal POA, as required by state regulation, and we made efforts to accommodate a scheduled care plan meeting, which the family attended significantly late and declined to reschedule. We remain committed to the well-being of every resident and to clear, compassionate communication with families. We take our responsibility seriously and take great exception to the misrepresentation of the facts of the situation. My father required a high level of care and I feel they've been on top of that. Communication is good. He loves it there, he likes the staff and has made a lot of friends with the tenants. Wonderful!

A great, caring community

After visiting 3 assisted living communities we chose HighPointe for my 98 yr old mother. Initially she wasn't thrilled in general and indicated she would just stay in bed in her nightie all of the time. One month later and she gets dressed daily and doesn't miss a meal. PT and OT are great and helping her regain some strength. I am so impressed with the care team and the administration, they are all great. I highly recommend this community and thank A Place For Mom for all of their support

Better Than We Thought Was Possible

We are continually amazed by the high quality of care; friendly, knowledgeable and kind staff; as well as good food at High Pointe. It is an immaculate, classy and beautiful place that feels like a high-end apartment building, versus a "care facility." Can't recommend highly enough! My mother in-law resisted moving from living independently to assisted living - but now that she's settled in, she raves about High Pointe. Thank you.

Our experience

As expected it took some time for staff to get to know my mom so they could express her needs. Overall a good experience. Communication in the beginning was a little slow but once we got to know everyone that went better. Staff was friendly and seemed to care. Overall a good experience. Poor communication and inflexible policies

We had a poor experience with HighPointe and ultimately did not move our dad into this facility. We agreed to move our Dad into assisted living (AL) and moved his belongings into an apartment (where very unclean floors required us to scrub them by hand). But HighPointe was not upfront about their assessment of residents and sole use of a “slums” score to determine AL versus memory care placement. They made no exceptions, even though their doctor and executive director both recommended AL. We were told corporate overrode staff recommendations and would require Dad to move into memory care. Staff indicated that the contract Dad signed would be void. We chose not to move him in and found another AL facility that was a better fit and willing to meet Dad at his level. Although they said they would refund the first month of rent and community fee, they are now refusing to do so. They lack transparency, integrity and good communication. We do NOT recommend HighPointe or any Spectrum property.

Understaffed and disorganized

So many frustrations over the years. This facility has too many staff changes Starting at the top, from executive director to the kitchen staff. There is a clear lack of communication between the staff and residents family. When they do share information it is to the wrong people. They quote you once price for care, and 1 week later, the increase the price then another week later it goes up again. How can they be so wrong about estimating a persons level of care in one month. And don’t hold your breath for a call back. This place seemed like it was a nice place without being overly expensive, but ultimately it becomes more expensive and more frustrating than the facilities that are initially more costly. Do yourself a favor and try someplace else.

The surrounding and space is nice, everyone there is friendly but like most service industries staff levels of care personnel are less then what they should be. Costs can change easily and there is no discussion with the POA.
